WHAT?

We are offering four FULL scholarships for one of our online diplomas in Social Innovation or Global Leadership.

Thanks to generous donors and our own internal funding, beyond the 4 full diploma scholarships, we will also be offering 5 full scholarships to single courses within the UPEACE Centre program, and 35 partial scholarships.

At the UPEACE Centre for Executive Education, we believe that there is a strong need for more changemakers around the world, and we believe that everyone has the potential to make a difference. We empower worldwide citizens to use their passions and strengths to be agents of change, to help them realize their own potential, and develop the skills, mindsets, and networks to make a positive impact on the interconnected world.

Our scholarship recipients have come from across the globe—from the United States to Indonesia, from Italy to Guatemala—bringing diverse perspectives to a truly international learning experience

✅ Not be currently enrolled in a UPEACE Diploma program (however, you may apply if you have taken or are taking individual UPEACE courses)

The UPEACE Centre Diploma Programs

Join a cutting-edge program aimed at building your skills as a changemaker so that you can take your passion out into the world and expand your impact in your community.

Our diplomas take up to 18 months to complete and require one compulsory course and four electives. The Diploma in Social Innovation requires the completion of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Social Change and the Global Leadership Diploma requires the completion of either Positive Leadership or Regenerative Leadership.

FLEXIBLE FORMATS

Our diplomas are flexibly designed for working professionals. There are synchronous and asynchronous options, with courses in a wide range of areas key to personal growth and creating positive impact.

DIPLOMA DETAILS

Beginning in July, 2026, you'll have up to 18 months to complete one compulsory course and four electives. You'll also be paired with a personalized coach to help push your journey forward!

We had over 500 amazing applications come through from all over the world, with incredibly moving and worthy impact projects. It was extremely difficult, but three inspiring winners were chosen. Their incredible stories are detailed below.

In addition, full course scholarships were given to participants from: Costa Rica, Brazil, the United States, Cameroon, and Jamaica. Through partial scholarships, we had participants join us from Santa Lucia, Guatemala, India, Iran, Haiti, Myanmar, and South Africa.

Dina is a youth advocate and feminist leader working the topics of sexual and reproductive health, digital education, and youth participation. She leads partnerships at YIELD Hub and co-founded Sexdugram, a platform delivering inclusive sexuality education in Indonesia. With over a decade of experience and global advisory roles, she is advancing youth-led advocacy and shaping more inclusive, rights-based systems.

Ibrahim Bangura

Sierra Leone

Child Protection and Social Innovation

Ibrahim is the founder of Future Leaders Initiative SL, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting children from violence and promoting their rights. Drawing from personal experience, he leads programs in education, counseling, and community engagement to create safe environments for children. He is now exploring technology-driven solutions to scale impact, including the development of social innovation initiatives that bridge child protection and tech.

Milagros Castillo

Panama

Gender Equity and Sustainable Development

Milagros is a social activist and project leader driving initiatives in water access, gender equity, and community development. As General Director of the Rain Schools program at Panama Rainwater, she leads projects providing safe water to schools while expanding strategic partnerships. She also founded the Carmesí Project, promoting menstrual health and civic participation across Panama.

Ashley Mejia

United States

Child Protection and Global Development

Ashley's works bridges policy, research, and global collaboration to end violence against children. Through her experience with USAID’s Children in Adversity team and the INSPIRE Working Group, she has contributed to high-level policy and international coordination efforts. As a Global Leadership Diploma recipient, she is strengthening her ability to lead initiatives that advance protection, equity, and safe environments for children worldwide.

Edgar Buryahika

Youth Peacebuilding

Edgar is the founder of Youth for Peace and Development Uganda (YOPEDU), a nonprofit empowering young people to lead peacebuilding initiatives in their communities. Despite funding challenges, he continues to expand his impact through grassroots action. Through the Diploma in Social Innovation, Edgar is developing strategies to strengthen sustainability and scale youth-led peace efforts.

Frida Ibarra

Social Innovation and Community Empowerment

Frida focuses on empowering marginalized communities through technology, education, and entrepreneurship. Her work with organizations like Laboratoria and the Hult Prize Foundation has reinforced her commitment to inclusive innovation. As a Diploma in Social Innovation recipient, she is advancing solutions that foster resilience, opportunity, and community-driven change.

Sofía González

Costa Rica

Refugee Advocacy and Environmental Law

Sofía is a human rights and environmental advocate with experience supporting refugee resettlement at UNHCR. Her work bridges legal expertise with community engagement, informed by her Latin American and indigenous roots. Through the Diploma in Social Innovation, she is expanding her capacity to design inclusive, sustainable solutions across sectors.

Mishka is committed to reducing crime and violence in her community through youth engagement and peace-focused initiatives. Her work with the Rotaract Club in Kingston sparked her dedication to social impact. As a Global Leadership Diploma recipient, she is building the skills to design and scale programs that foster safer, more resilient communities.

What are we offering?

We're offering THREE full scholarships to one of our online diploma programs in Social Innovation or Global Leadership. The Rotary Club of Plymouth, Massachusetts will be sponsoring one of the three, and we'll also offer full scholarships for individual courses.

TWO

FULL Diploma Scholarships through the UPEACE Centre

The UPEACE Centre for Executive Education, based at the United Nations-founded University for Peace, will be sponsoring two FULL scholarships in either Global Leadership or Social Innovation.

This can be flexibly completed within 18 months starting in July, 2023. This virtual diploma consists of one mandatory course and four electives, as well as three personal coaching sessions.

ONE

FULL Rotary Sponsored Diploma Scholarship

The Rotary Club of Plymouth, Massachusetts will sponsor one full diploma scholarship in Global Leadership or Social Innovation. The winner of this scholarship will preferably have experience with the Rotary, and will also be asked to do two virtual presentations to the Rotary club.

Your virtual diploma can flexibly be completed within 18 months, starting in July, 2023, and will consist of one mandatory course and four electives, as well as three personal coaching sessions.

We are continuously blown away by the incredible work of our scholarship applicants. We only have three diploma scholarships to offer, but we want to support as many of our amazing applicants as possible.
